BC SCHOOL FSA PERFORMANCE:
2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005

The purpose of this website is to assist educators in interpreting and understanding students' Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) performance results. Grade 4, 7, and 10 students who participate in the FSA are one of three scores: 'below expectations', 'meets expectations', or 'exceeds expectations' for each of the three subtests -- Numeracy, Writing, and Reading.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using the drop-down menus, select the district, school, sub-test, start year, and end year for which you would like an FSA performance graphical report. Click 'Submit' to view the report.

The Edudata BC School FSA Performance search engine will produce a graphical report that displays the proportion of students who earned each of the three FSA performance categories in the school: 'below expectations', 'meets expectations', and exceeds expectations'.

After viewing the graphical report and returning to the search engine, please refresh the engine for the next selection by ensuring that a school is selected. The search engine can only give reports at the school level (not at the district level) and it cannot generate a report when no school is selected. Use the "Back" button to return to the Story page.

TROUBLESHOOTING ADVICE:

The note "There are no data available for this selection" will appear if no school is selected, if the type of school (elementary, middle, secondary) selected does not match the grade, if the search engine is not refreshed, or if after the graphical report appears and the user selects a subgroup such as 'ESL students' when there is no such subgroup in the population selected.

Check that a school is listed in the search engine. Also check that the type of school (elementary, middle, secondary) matches with the grade selected (grade 4, 7, or 10).

When selecting school years for a report, remember that the FSA is written in the spring of each school year. For example, if you select the year '2000' from the drop-down menu, this refers to the FSA written in the 1999-2000 school year.

In the search engine, if you select more than one year from the drop-down menus, make sure the second year is greater than the first year chosen. For example, if '2000' and '2002' were the years selected, the first year, '2000' will appear in graphical form. Above the graph, if you click on the subsequent year that is listed, in this case '2001', that year will appear in graphical form.

If you have chosen multiple years and you select the bar graphical form (instead of the pie graph, for example), all the years selected will appear in the same graph.
